The total raised by this year’s Cork’s 96FM Giving for Living Radiothon has increased to more than €488,000.
The three day event held between the 23rd and 25th of May ended with an astonishing total of €465,902 raised to support cancer services in Cork. But a further €20,000 in donations have been handed in since then.
During Radiothon, the UTV- owned radio station had broadcast all it’s daytime shows from a temporary studio at the Mercy Hospital with teams doing regular links from the other beneficiaries, Marymount Hospice and Cork University Hospital.
This was the station’s sixth annual event. This year’s result brings the total raised by Cork’s 96FM Radiothons to over €2.5 million.
Chief Executive of Cork’s 96FM & C103, Kieran McGeary said “this is a tremendous result. I am very proud of the team at Cork’s 96FM who worked tirelessly and selflessly over the last three days and in the months preceding Radiothon. But yet again, the stars of Radiothon are the people of Cork, those who shared stories of their cancer journeys and those who have donated so generously.”
This year’s total is a record amount for Cork’s 96FM Radiothon and the figure is expected to increase in the coming days as people continue to hand in proceeds from their fundraising.
